The Selfish ‘seater’

Date: 04.04.2018

Time Stamp: 07:25am

Route: Ajah- Victoria Island

‘Are you in your house? Why are you sitting like that?’ Those words caught my attention as I was just getting over being cramped up in the seat by a passenger who alighted some bus stops back; then i look back.

Uncle in Blue native: You can’t sit like that! we all paid equally for the seats.

Uncle in blue stripped shirt:  Is that why you are poking me? I can sit anyhow I want.

Uncle in Blue native: You can’t spread your legs like you are in your parlour.

Uncle in blue stripped shirt: Is it your leg? Let me spread it how I want.

Uncle in Blue native: But it is not fair now. You are squeezing everybody and making us uncomfortable.

Uncle in blue stripped shirt:  I can sit anyhow I want and you can’t do anything about it. That’s how I like seating.

Uncle in Blue native: Na wa o! Conductor! Abeg, tell him to sit well, he is squeezing all of us.

Conductor: Oga, abeg shift na. Sit well

Uncle in blue stripped shirt: Rolls his eyes and ignores the conductor

Conductor: Wetin dey worry you sef? sit well na, na all of them pay. Why you dey do anyhow?

Uncle in blue stripped shirt: Still ignores

Sadly, I had to alight at the next bus stop and couldn’t get to the end of the drama. But I spotted uncle blue native switching seats as soon as I got down.

Why are some people generally badly behaved though?

  1. I read the first paragraph in an old Woman’s voice. It’s old women that ask these kind of questions. I was actually thinking, why didn’t you follow the bus?
